Sushi Bake is the latest gastronomic trend that gives you a deconstructed version of the original Japanese rolled Sushi. This delicious recipe also comes with my own method of making homemade Furikake. Spoon a generous mound onto a sheet of seaweed, wrap loosely, and consume immediately. Sushi is a Japanese dish made of rice flavored with vinegar and a mix of seafood and/or vegetables.

  5. Take 2 stalks green onion, thinly chopped

  8. Make ready 1 jar nori furikaki seaweed flakes (find at Asian grocery store)
  9. Take 1 Package Seasoned Seaweed Sheets, cut into rectangles

To eat: first take a big *scoop from the Sushi Bake and put in on your plate. Sushi Bake is best served with Nori sheets (Japanese name for Seaweed). What I use is the seasoned seaweed snack. They are already pre-cut and perfect for this sushi bake.

Steps to make Sushi Bake:
  1. Preheat oven to 450 degrees.
  2. Mix lump crabmeat, crab sticks, Japanese mayonnaise, green onion, wasabi paste/Sriracha sauce, and fish roe.
  3. Press cooked sushi rice onto a 9x13 pan.
  4. Sprinkle 1/2 jar of Nori Furikake onto pressed rice.
  5. Spread crab mixture on top.
  6. Sprinkle the remaining Nori Furikaki on top of the mixture.
  7. Place in oven and cook until the top is a golden brown color, about 5-10 minutes.
  8. Serve on plates with cut seaweed sheets. Use the seaweed as a wrap.

What I use is the seasoned seaweed snack. They are already pre-cut and perfect for this sushi bake. I also used Japanese mayonnaise for drizzling. Sushi Bake is basically like a sushi casserole. The best part is the crispy top layer where all the flavors from the toppings come together.
